Jul 2016 - DINE CONTRACT CATERING HELPS TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN SCHOOL AND EMPLOYMENT

Dine Contract Catering has an ongoing commitment to the youth of today, the company was recently included on The Sunday Telegraph’s Top Apprenticeship Careers List and has also been presented with a Quality Mark Award from People 1st for its bespoke training package.

Work experience placements are also a key element to Dine Contract Catering’s careers development programme.  With a number of placements already up and running, Dine Contract Catering aims to improve its offering by working with local college, Warrington Collegiate, to potentially take on a continuous rota of students from the college each academic year.  Potential placements with Riverside College and Princes Trust are also in the pipeline too.

Dine Contract Catering’s Talent and Succession Manager, Rob Bruford, explains why work experience placements are so invaluable to the business and the development of the individuals taking part:

“Placements give young people a fantastic real-life work experience and we strive to show them how exciting and rewarding a career in contract catering can be.  The feedback we’ve received has been equally as rewarding for us as a business too, as young people go back to colleges more enthusiastic and motivated, which is great to see.

“Meaningful work experience can help develop a wide range of skills needed for the world of work.  The jump between school and employment can be a daunting time for young people and our goal is to help and support them ahead of this transition.”

Andy Macleod, Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Catering at Warrington Collegiate added:

“Dine Contract Catering offers a supportive work placement, which students from Warrington Collegiate benefit immensely from.  Essential skills such as punctuality, teamwork and social skills, are enhanced through the programme, helping to reinforce what the college strives to teach them throughout their time with us.”
