Oct 2019 - Duke Of Edinburgh

Our fifth annual expedition for our Apprentices took place in the Yorkshire Dales in late September. This year we had 4 young people coming together from across the country including young chefs from Darlington, Liverpool, Warrington and a Graphic Designer from our Head Office. Navigating roughly 12 miles a day, camping at night and adjusting their cooking skills from the kitchen to a camp stove the expedition was completed in glorious weather making the walk easier but the freezing cold morning starts were a bit of a shock to the system. Working towards their Silver award the expedition concluded 12 months of hard work on behalf of the young people learning and refining new skills.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award offers young people the opportunity to develop teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills in an environment and situation they might not otherwise encounter. This is the reason why we sponsor the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as our chosen charity each year in our annual fundraiser, seeing the senior team from across the business complete multiple day bike rides and triathlons raising over £10,000 year on year.

We’re already planning next year’s events so watch this space.
