Mar 2014 - DINE CONTRACT CATERING RECEIVES HIGH COMMENDATION AT INDUSTRY AWARDS

Dine Contract Catering's ‘Eat Well, Live Well, Work Well’ initiative proved just the recipe at this year’s Health and Vitality Honours, receiving Highly Commended in the Corporate Vitality category.

The annual Health and Vitality Honours are a celebration of the work Foodservice Industry are doing to promote health and wellbeing throughout its operation, both internally and through work with customers.

The Corporate Vitality Honour is traditionally one of the most sought-after category at the awards, garnering dozens of entries.  Initial paper entries are vetted once received, by a team of highly experienced judges including Dr Susan Jebb, OBE, before the best initiatives are picked to move onto the final stage.

The winners were announced at a lunch ceremony at Lord’s Cricket Ground on the 23rd January, where Dine Contract Catering was announced as runner-up in the category, beating off some recognisable names in the contract catering sector to take the ‘silver medal’.

Feedback from the judging panel on 'Eat Well, Live Well' revealed high praise for the programme, which aims to provide customers with all the necessary information to make an informed choice of their diet at work. This includes creating a menu with an easily recognisable visual system indicating how healthy and balanced the meal they plan to eat is. The grading system of three hearts for a light meal, up to one heart for an indulgent treat, is based on the meal’s Guideline Daily Amounts [GDA] value, advised by Dine Contract Catering's Group Nutritionist, Roz Whitney.

Speaking about the win Charles Miers, Managing Director of the Health and Vitality Honours scheme, said he was ‘delighted’ that Eat Well, Live Well had received ‘well-deserved recognition’ adding: “We had many strong entries to the Corporate Vitality category but Dine Contract Catering really stood out for its commitment to employee well-being. The 'Eat Well, Live Well' programme is certainly something for Dine Contract Catering to be proud of, and stands as an excellent example of best practice of health and nutrition initiatives.”

Dine Contract Catering's Highly Commended status was awarded just days after Jim Cartwright, Chairman and co-founder of the company, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to the hospitality sector, at the 2013 Foodservice Management (FSM) Awards.
