Feb 2015 - 'DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY' PAYS OFF
“Doing things differently” was cited as just one of the reasons why leading Independent Operator, Dine Contract Catering was named the winner of the Corporate Vitality Honour at this year’s prestigious Health and Vitality Honours.
Hosted by corporate sustainability champion, Footprint, the Honours showcase those in the Foodservice industry for their achievements in improving the nation’s health and wellbeing. The Corporate Vitality Honour is traditionally one of the most sought-after categories at the awards, gathering dozens of entries.
The winners were announced at a lunch ceremony at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 29th January. Judges included nutritionist, Amanda Ursell and Mike Brackett MBE, Catering Services Manager of the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. Dine Contract Catering was also a runner-up for the Healthy Hospitality Honours award.
The highly entrepreneurial foodservice operator was recognised for its dedication to help shape the face of the industry across employee engagement, health and wellness through its innovative ‘Eat Well, Live Well’ initiative.
The initiative provides staff and customers with the information they need to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle – from training staff in professional qualifications to a unique menu grading system encouraging customers to eat well – all underpinned by a total passion to promote the benefits of healthy eating and living.
The company has been highly innovative in the industry to stay ahead of the game, signing up to the Government’s Responsibility Deal pledges, including the ‘F10 Out-of-Home maximum per serving salt targets’ which has led to an impressive 350kg of salt being removed from the supply chain. Ian Cartwright, Dine Contract Catering’s Managing Director commented:
“This award is a testament to our dedication to create a corporate environment based upon healthy lifestyles both inside and outside the workplace.”
“It was fantastic to see so many foodservice businesses being showcased for their efforts to improve healthy eating throughout the industry and we will continue to strive for further improvements in health and wellness across the board.”
